Hyper/Mix Tape

Silence of the bees!

Although I am stricken with a rather nasty cold, in contrast to recent months, today I have been quite happy and a little hyper, with rather shaky hands, so that as I attempt to roll cigarettes I invariably fashion tumbleweed.  I even went to the shop to tell them their fridge was broken, and got free milk!

I am wondering if it’s acclimatising to Effexor.  I’m not on a huge dose- 75mg- and the only other side effects that I’ve had so far have been that I’ve been sleeping a lot less and have completely lost my appetite.  I went out today (and there is something else I haven’t been doing, and I even put on make up and proper clothes, which I haven’t been bothering with lately) and got myself a sandwich, thinking that I really should eat something.  I managed a bite of it before throwing it in the bin and at 7pm, I’m still not hungry. Still have racing thoughts.

I’ll resist reading too much into it.  Either way, I welcome a day of hyperness.  It breaks up the months of utter despondancy and apathy.  Although I know that you are going to tell me to keep an eye on it, as I would tell you.  But you know what it’s like if you have just one day of feeling remotely human again when it feels as though you’ve been depressed forever, you grab onto it like a falling man reaches out for the ledge.

And by slightly popular demand, here is  a Weekend Mix featuring Public Image Limited, Sparks, Billie Holiday, Mansun, The Divine Comedy… the usual suspects, really, and you can download it here.  Forgive me if I’ve duplicated any songs from previous mixes, I lost the lists!

As usual, if you want to see the setlist, click “Read More”!

BTW – don’t know if you’ve ever mentioned it before, but do you notice that you often get a bit of a cold just before or after a mood shift? Think I’ve read a couple of times that your hypomania either starts with a cold or ends with one? maybe its just coz depression runs you down a bit, but I seem to get the same thing.

  2. Just enjoy the good day darlin’ dont analyse a gift – i wish you lots of ‘em x

  3. Yes, glad to hear you’re having a good un. Where does the anger come into it?

  4. Is that you?! You’re beautiful. I’m glad you’re having a good day :)

  5. Should have gone with the Dinosaur Jr. version of Just Like Heaven, but you easily made up for it with Jilted John and The Divine Comedy.

  6. I’m not sure if this comment is annoying to you, but you look so beautiful in that photo. Your eyes are amazing. If there wasn’t a Rob, I’d be shamelessly flirting with you by know.

  7. Seaneen, if you like Michael Palin and you follow current events, I think you will find this hilarious: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jf1y9s73Nos

  8. Interesting now that someone mentioned it. I tend to at some point in a major episode get sick too.

  9. Have a wonderful weekend, then!

  10. Hi
Great mix enjoyed it thank you, and had to laugh at the little msn chime part way through the Suede track. (24:05)

    Take care.

  11. Jilted John is actually amazing. I was so distressed when I heard it on that yoghurt ad (or whatever it is) that I practicaly cried… well, I didn’t, but I wasn’t happy.

First time I ever heard the song I had a hysterical laughing attack. :)

  12. Do keep an eye on it, as you’d say. But yeah, it’s wonderful not to feel horrid or half-way dead for a change. Great mix.

  13. Glad you’re having a bit of up against the down for a change – Young Parisians is a great track – a constant on my iTunes!

  14. [...] Interesting: The Secret Life of a Manic Depressive is feeling hyper. I am wondering if it’s acclimatising to Effexor. I’m not on a huge dose- 75mg- and the only [...]
